GPS: offline map data preloaded,Support Google Maps/ Waze online Navigation Support other Android Navigation app I previously had a single DIN Pioneer head unit and before that the factory, non U-connect radio. Switch back to the nav screen and it immediately comes back online. The one odd thing it does though is that when you switch from nav back to the menu screen it disconnects the GPS signal after about ten seconds if you don't go back to the screen and eventually the nav lady will tell you that the GPS signal has been lost. All-in-all though, this thing is pretty smooth right out of the box and I haven't struggled with any of it's functionality.

I also didn't have that installed so will install one this weekend. As for the camera my understanding is that it will work with a factory backup camera but you'd have to confirm. I don't know about the factory mic since mine didn't have that feature. but just enough to be noticeable if you pay attention). Screen mirroring works pretty well through wifi to the radio from the phone or through usb but the sound is ever so slightly out of sync with the video (we're talking milliseconds.

You would just need to either have access to LTE via hotspot from your phone to the radio or install an LTE dongle (there is a usb port for that purpose) for live Google Maps or download the map to the nav SD card prior to a trip over Wifi and use GM offline. It uses iGo as it's primary navigation app however Google Maps is also loaded on it. The latest models have moved from a quad-core to octo-core processor. A lot of these units come with 1GB DDR3 RAM but I opted for this one specifically because it comes with 2GB DDR3 RAM installed. It has 16 GB onboard memory for video, pics, music storage but has an SD card slot that allows for an additional 32GB to be added. The phone-like interface takes you to the functions you would see on an Android phone (play store, other non-automotive apps, Google Chrome, settings, etc.) There is a phone-like interface option or an auto interface option with the difference being the auto option focuses more on apps you would likely use while driving such as music, gps, and Bluetooth. I've yet to really push it to see how it holds up but the quad core processor seems to be doing its job. The operation is really smooth and so far hasn't been glitchy. This may be a good option for those who want to keep a factory look and not spend over $1k for a head unit. Time will tell if it holds up, but I am impressed thus far.

There are about 20 different brands, but it appears that they are all the same radio. Navigation works well and the sound quality is much better than factory. I like the wifi feature which makes updating maps and such easy while sitting in the driveway. However it does offer a jack on the back of the radio to install an external mic, which I intend to install shortly. The one thing I don't like is that the built in BT mic in the face of the radio isn't very loud.

The manual leaves a lot to be desired (thanks China) but it was pretty easy to figure out without the manual. It includes a CANBUS decoder, so all of the factory steering wheel buttons work just fine. Total install time was less than 20 minutes. Remove the stock radio, plug the included radio harness into the stock harness and bolt the radio back in. I have to say that this was about as easy as it can get. I finally got it last night and got it installed. I have been looking for solutions to install a 6.2" GPS headunit into my Ram for a while now and one of the most important factors for me was to keep it as close to factory appearance as possible and I didn't want to cut anything in the dash.Īfter a lot of research I found an Android unit that is a direct replacement for the stock head unit.
